The Western Illinois University Department of English will host the Fred Ewing Case and Lola Case Writer-in-Residence Thursday, Sept. 15. This year’s author is KB Brookins, also known as KB, a Black/queer/transmasculine poet, essayist, and cultural worker from Fort Worth, TX. Western Illinois University Alumnus Launches DEI Internship Fund, First Intern Hired

Tyler Leibnitz, a Western Illinois University sociology graduate student from Huntley (IL), has been named the inaugural recipient of the Randall and Delores Lindsey DEI Internship. Western’s newest internship program, which focuses on justice, inclusion, diversity and equity, is on its way to being fully funded, thanks to Randall Lindsey, a 1965 graduate. The September “First Wednesday” art program at Western Illinois University will be held from 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 7 in Garwood Hall, the Heating Plant Annex and the University Art Gallery. The Multicultural Center at Western Illinois University will host its annual open house for the campus and Macomb communities from 3-5 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 1. Activities will take place on the center’s lawn, as well as inside the building. MACOMB/MOLINE, IL — Western Illinois University international students have new scholarship opportunities at WIU, thanks to the efforts of 2005 and 2010 alumnus Matthew Toland. Toland, who serves as the WIU Alumni Council president, recently established the President Huang International Student Scholarship to honor the inauguration of Guiyou Huang as WIU’s 12th president.
