Paint the River: Artists Sought for 5th Annual Plein Air Paint Out

Bereskin Gallery & Art Academy is presenting the 5th-annual “Plein Air Paint Out” along the Mississippi River on Saturday, Sept. 25, 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Artists may paint along the Mississippi from the I-80 Bridge to the Centennial Bridge on either side of the river. All mediums are acceptable. From the entrants of the day, up to 30 artists will be selected to exhibit their work in a fall exhibition, Oct. 1 – 30, at the Bereskin gallery, 2967 State St., Bettendorf. Pop Art pioneers Roy Lichtenstein, Takashi Murakami, Andy Warhol, and more will truly pop at Figge Art Museum this summer with Pop Power from Warhol to Koons: Masterworks from the Collections of Jordan D. Schnitzer and His Family Foundation. The newest exhibition to arrive at the Figge (225 W. St., Davenport) features more than 100 works that have never been seen in the Quad-Cities before. On exhibit through August 13, will be “Bridging the Divide,” paintings by John Born and “Internal Landscapes,” paintings by Laura Vincent- Arnold. The public is invited to attend the opening reception on June 25 from 7-9 pm where the artists will be present and refreshments will be served. John Born, of Bettendorf, presents a series of paintings called “Bridging the Divide,” completed throughout the construction of the new I-74 bridge. Quad-Cities Artist Jen Hansen Hosts New Davenport Art Exhibit

The West Davenport Arts Council, in conjunction with Metropolitan Community Church of the Quad Cities (MCC QC), is hosting an art exhibition for local artist Jen Hansen on the evening of Wednesday, June 30th, from 6-8 PM. Light refreshments will be served. Jen’s art is currently on display at MCC QC, located at 2930 Locust St. in Davenport, through the end of July. Jen is an outsider artist who found their calling while taking a class to teach therapeutic art. Let’s face it — Saturday, Feb. 20 will be a big day for museum lovers in the Quad-Cities, as two long-time Davenport institutions open new exhibits. A new original exhibit at the Putnam (1717 W. 12th St.), “Faces of the Past,”  explores portraiture around the world and across time as a reflection of self-identity, popular culture, mythology, and ritual.
