Quad City Engineering & Science Council is offering scholarships for high school seniors pursuing a STEM Career. Students must be a resident of Mercer, Rock Island, Henry, Whiteside, Carroll, Knox, or Lee county in Illinois, or Clinton, Scott, Muscatine, or Louisa County in Iowa. They must plan to study for a STEM related degree (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) at either an accredited four-year college or university, an associate degree at a community or junior college, or a skilled trades certification. Michael Carton, director of education and outreach for WQPT (Quad Cities PBS), is in his fourth year of teaching computer coding classes to area K-3 students. But since last spring, it’s been very limited because of Covid restrictions.
