I’ve always had kind of a mixed relationship with the music of Jimmy Buffett. I’ve seen him in concert a couple of times because I have friends who are Parrotheads and absolutely love him, and after seeing him once, I found his show really entertaining so I’ve gone along with them subsequent times to gigs even though my feelings on his music are, again, pretty mixed. Davenport Junior Theatre completes its 71st season with MARVEL Spotlight: Squirrel Girll Goes to College written by Karen Zacarias, based on the Marvel Comics by Will Murray & Steve Ditko. The show involves 37 students from all over the Quad Cities. The kids, who range in age from 10-18, are the actors, crew members, tech board operators, front-of-house team, and Junior Theatre mascot Showtime Pal. Set in 1929-1930 Berlin, the musical focuses on the hedonistic nightlife at the Kit Kat Club and revolves around an American writer’s relationship with Sally Bowles, a cabaret performer. The original Broadway production opened in 1966 and ran for 1,166 performances.
