Celebrate biodiversity at the 6th annual BioBlitz, held at Illiniwek Forest Preserve from 2 p.m. on June 25 to 2 p.m. on June 26. A BioBlitz is an intensive survey of as many species as possible within a specified area during a 24-hour period. Remember the days of loading up the family camper and setting out for a memory-making getaway? Take a step back in time this weekend, to a sun-filled summer day with some vintage trailers. The 5th Annual Great River Road Vintage Trailer Rally is taking place at Illiniwek Forest Preserve (1201 State Avenue Hampton) this week. How would you like to step back in time and see how life was for the Great Plains Native Americans? Well here is your opportunity! On Saturday Sep 30, Illiniwek Forest Preserve is hosting a Tipi Gathering and you’re invited. From 10 a.m. – 7 p.m. the entire family can experience elements of the Great Plains Native American culture. This event is free!
