On a day before record low temperatures were predicted to freeze the Quad-Cities, hundreds of people spent a brrrrr-tiful afternoon celebrating winter’s wiles during the free Icetravaganza at Davenport’s Freight House. Mammoth ice sculptures were sliced and sawed, children frolicked in play areas, little girls smiled at all manner of “Frozen” and princess related items and people enjoyed hot soup and drinks as they perused a plethora of swag in a bustling market atmosphere. Twice now I have had the pleasure of visiting RAW, a new cocktail lounge located at 136 East 3rd Street in Downtown Davenport. Upon my second visit I was lucky enough to ask one of the owners, Sid Rognoni, a few questions about the establishment. Rognoni and the other owner, Chris Odendahl, co-own Bowls Urban Eats, the restaurant just up the block. They had their eye on the space for awhile, wanting to open a high-end bar. Two new events are brewing Saturday, Oct. 15 at the German American Heritage Center, 712 W. 2nd St., Davenport. A Genealogy Workshop with Antje Petty runs from 9:30am-12:00pm. Cost is $35 Members $40 nonmembers, pre-registration and payment are required prior to the event.
