Countryside Community Theatre has joined the host of area venues canceling their summer slate due to concerns about covid-19. The Eldridge-based group released the following statement on Facebook today: We are sad to announce that our Summer 2020 shows, The Music Man and The Fantasticks, will not be happening this summer due to the Covid-19 Pandemic. Countryside is stepping into a new show May 10 — “39 Steps.” Based on the 1935 movie by Alfred Hitchcock, the frenetic comedy The 39 Steps will be the first spring play Countryside Community Theatre will have ever produced. Want a peek behind-the-scenes at Countryside Community Theater’s “Godspell?” The musical continues with shows this weekend, 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 2:30 p.m. Sunday at North Scott High School auditorium in Eldridge. The cast features newcomer Drake Mason as Jesus and Quad City staples Nate Karstens (John the Baptist/Judas), Sara Diericx and Cindy Ramos.
