Western Illinois University will host higher education scholar Professor Terrell Lamont Strayhorn from 1:30-2:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 29, in the Multicultural Center Multipurpose Room.

Strayhorn, a professor of higher education at Illinois State University, will deliver “Creating Campus Conditions for Belonging: From Research to Practice.” The event is open free to the campus community.

Strayhorn is considered a national expert of college students’ sense of belonging, as well as psychology and the academic study of diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging. He was named one of the country’s “Top Diversity Scholars” by Diverse: Issues in Higher Education, and a “Bridge-Builder” between academic and student affairs by American College Personnel Association. He has authored 12 books, more than 200 peer-reviewed journal articles, book chapters and nationally-circulated reports.
