Western Illinois University Quad Cities will host the fourth annual Get Lit Writing Contest & Event from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Thursday, April 7 at the Moline campus. This event brings area high school students to campus to feature their poems, short stories, screen plays, images and more.

The event will also feature thematic categories such as environment, climate change, race, class and gender and bring in different Quad Cities relevance.

Students will get the chance to attend a college campus atmosphere and share their written work aloud to peers. This event provides students with a valuable experience and allows their creative minds to speak.

Prizes are available to participants in all six categories. The first place winner will receive $50; second place, $40; and third place, $30.

This event is sponsored by Western Illinois University, Interdisciplinary English and Arts Society, Student Government Association and WQPT Quad Cities PBS.
