One of the most requested spots I’ve had here, Van’s Pizza, Pub & Grill had some hidden treats to offer. While the Taco Pizza didn’t score high, I’m giving this place some respect and high praise. The staff was in a upbeat mood and that energy transfers over to the overall feel of the business right now that means a lot in the food industry.
Chips: 13 Points. Not as crispy as I’d like, kind of a bland taste.
Sauce: 10 Points Refried bean sauce here, just missing the flavor I look for.
Toppings: 12 points Chips were a little large for the offering here, very few tomatoes, and the lettuce just got lost in the mix.
Crust: 10 points the crust here failed the flop test and had a taste more reminiscent of a flat bread.
Overall: 12 points This one was rough. They have the right idea, just missing the execution. Besides having beans, chips, lettuce, and tomatoes nothing said “Taco” to me.
I’m going to add these two little added offerings to the review though, because ultimately, I make the decisions around here.
The T-Rex Pizza was all nostalgia. This brought me back to the joy of lunchroom pizza at Roosevelt Elementary in Moline, Illinois during the 80s. This pizza was just simply joyful. 9.8/10 all day long on this offering.
Buffalo Wings. Van’s knows how to make some amazing wings. I would be in fat guy heaven eating these 3 days a week and twice on Tuesday. 9.9/10
Score: 57 out of 100 points
Much love.
