When Quad-Cities musician Donovan Gustofson created QC HIVE six months ago, to help others hurt by the coronavirus pandemic, he had little idea how it would grow and flourish. The Facebook group formed March 23 now has 6,855 members, and raised over $70,000 to support local musicians, artists, bars, restaurants and other small business owners struggling to make it after Covid has devastated the economy, as well as claiming 200,000 American lives. Einstein’s Sister is releasing their first songs in almost twenty years, and the band’s songwriter, guitarist and singer Kerry Tucker is talking about it on a new video. The group collaborated with members from the bands of Paul McCartney, Jellyfish, Sheryl Crow, and more. The single was mastered at the legendary Abbey Road. The next round of QC Beats, a local online audio streaming service, is taking submissions from Quad-Cities musicians the entire month of October. Lewis Knudsen, a Rock Island-based singer/songwriter, had one of his original tunes debut last fall on the Hallmark Channel and he didn’t even know until a couple weeks ago. “The way it works with composition, there are so many libraries, so many songs.
