Wilson Middle School is proud to raise the curtain on Music Man Jr March 2 and 3. The show will be presented in the school’s auditorium at 7:00 both nights. Tickets are $5 for adults and $3 for students. Doors open at 6:30. Music Man Junior tells the tale of fast-talking salesman Harold Hill and features many of the same iconic songs from its parent show: The Music Man. Hill cons the people of River City, Iowa into buying instruments and uniforms for a youth band, despite the fact he knows nothing about music. The Augustana Symphony Orchestra’s winter concert, “Through the Forest,” will give listeners an artistic treatment of folk tales and the natural world. The Horns are calling! Augie’s Horn Choir is performing on Sunday, February 5 at 4:00 p.m. at Wallenberg Hall on Augustana Campus. This recital will include performances of Wagner, Saint-Saens, Strauss, and many more! Bands Battle It Out At RIBCO Starting Friday!

The first round of the battle is here! On Friday, January 27 Rock Island Brewing Company, (RIBCO) will be hosting its first of 3 rounds for their Battle of the Bands. This event starts at 9 p.m. and lasts until 12:45 a.m. with three bands rocking the stage: Mea Culpa, Devils Heat, and Soldout War. The winner is determined by crowd vote. Augustana College’s Jenny Lind Vocal Ensemble will perform their concert titled, “Anchored & Unbound: Songs of Faith, Hope & Freedom” at 2 p.m. Sunday, January 29 at First Lutheran Church in Geneseo, Ill. Stolley Rejoins Daytrotter

Co-founding member Pat Stolley has rejoined Daytrotter. The site’s founding engineer rejoined the 11-year-old Quad Cities founded music website and venue this week. Pat Stolley was the recording engineer at Daytrotter from 2006-2008, tracking bands such as Iron & Wine, Bon Iver, Fleet Foxes, Vampire Weekend, Cold War Kids, and many more. Pat Stolley owns Futureappletree, a Quad Cities studio where hundreds of Daytrotter sessions have been recorded, as well as countless albums from popular local musicians.
