The Western Illinois University Department of Theatre and Dance will present “The Importance of Being Earnest,” at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 9-Saturday, Nov. 12, and at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 13 in Hainline Theatre.

The production is being directed by WIU graduate student Taylor Dahlberg, of Jefferson, IA, as her thesis project.

The production, written by Oscar Wilde, is a “madcap farce about mistaken identities, secret engagements, and lovers entanglements still delights theatre goers more than a century after its 1895 publication and premiere performance. The rapid-fire wit and eccentric characters of ‘The Importance of Being Earnest’ have made it a mainstay of the theatre for decades.”
