During the recent Western Illinois University-Macomb Student Government Association (SGA) elections, Kinsey Tiemann, a senior agriculture major from LaGrange, MO, was elected as the student member to the WIU Board of Trustees, while Elizabeth Orwig, a freshman from Princeton, and Jonathan Lewellyn, were elected SGA president and vice president, respectively.

She is also the president of WIU Women in Business, a chancellor for the School of Agriculture AgVocator Recruitment Team, president of the College of Business and Technology Student Organization Council, vice president of the School of Agriculture Council and a member of the Agronomy Club.

“As the student trustee, my goal is to be invested in targeting budget and fees discussions to ensure student costs remain as low as possible and equally invested in focusing efforts to aid in recruitment and retention of Western’s student body,” Tiemann said. “My interests are inspired from the many diverse ideas, backgrounds and relationships that unite our campus, and I look forward to being the voice of our student body on WIU’s Board of Trustees.”

Orwig recently served as SGA’s director of academic affairs, serving as the liaison between SGA and the Faculty Senate. She has also served as the vice president for Lincoln, Washington and Grote Hall Government, and was successful in establishing an Education Living Learning Community (LLC) for housing on the Macomb campus.

Lewellyn is a member of Pi Kappa Phi Fraternity, serving as the organization’s Treasurer. He also serves as the vice president of WIU’s Best Buddies chapter.
