The Western Illinois University Student Development and Success Center will host students, faculty and staff for “Think B4 You Drink” from 'Think B4 You Drink' Event Oct. 29 at Western Illinois Universitynoon-2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 29 in the grassy area behind Stipes Hall.

The event is aimed at educating students about safe alcohol consumption around the Halloween holiday, including drinking and driving, legal and medical ramifications, sex education and information on consent.

Participants can stop by a variety of stations, where information will include standard drink sizes, blood alcohol content (BAC), the impact of BAC levels on functioning and a golf cart simulation.

Prizes for the event have been donated by Chick’s on the Square, the Crafty Coop, The Old Dairy, Nostalgia and the University Bookstore.

The event is being held in partnership with the WIU Office of Public Safety; the WIU offices Student Rights and Responsibilities; Equal Opportunity and Access; the Beu Health Center; and the Western Emergency Medical Service (WEMS).

Think B4 You Drink is partially funded through a WIU Substance Abuse Prevention Education grant/research. Participants are expected to be vaccinated for COVID-19.
