With a string of No. 1 classics, including the “most played song in radio history,” “You’ve Lost That Lovin’ Feelin’” (1964), the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame duo of Bill Medley and Bobby Hatfield topped the charts in four decades, starting in the ‘60s. After Bobby’s death in 2003, Bill Medley continued to perform to sold-out crowds around the world, but fans and friends pleaded with him to keep The Righteous Brothers alive.

“No one could ever take Bobby’s place, but when I caught Bucky Heard’s show, it all came together,” Medley, 80, said in a tour release about his new musical partner. “I found the right guy to help me recreate the magic.”

Heard was performing in Branson, Missouri in a Journey tribute show when Medley came calling, and the duo has been playing Harrah’s Las Vegas ever since, according to an April 2021 piece in the Las Vegas Sun.

“When we first did it, every night was mind-blowing and there was a lot of pressure,” Heard said on the Sun on the Strip podcast. “I felt like the curtain would come up and people would be looking at Bill like, there he is, there’s my guy, and they were looking at me like, who does he think he is?

“But we made it very clear in the show that I’m not trying to replace [the late] Bobby [Hatfield], I’m just doing what we think Bobby would want to do and let’s keep this music alive. Bill needed somebody by his side to help him do that.”

The new combination has proven successful as this version of the Righteous Brothers has won over Vegas audiences and taken their show on the road, playing with the likes of the Beach Boys and the Temptations, the Sun story said.

The Adler Theatre concert experience will feature Medley’s biggest hits – “Lovin’ Feelin’,” “Soul & Inspiration,” “Unchained Melody,” “Rock and Roll Heaven,” and Medley’s Grammy-winning 1987 “Dirty Dancing” theme, “The Time of My Life,” and much more.
