The Quad Cities River Bandits 2020 baseball season may have been canceled, but that doesn’t mean the picture-perfect Modern Woodmen Park is sitting on the disabled list.

Gaines St., Davenport, will be showing classic movie titles on the big screen on select dates through the end of September. They hosted six movies in August, and have four planned this month. All tickets will be just $5 and all the proceeds from ticket sales will go to the Genesis Health Services Foundation.

Hit a Cinematic Homer With Movies at Davenport's Modern Woodmen Park“We like to partner with great community entities and the health care industry has been through a lot during the Covid-19 global pandemic, so it made sense to us to do as much as we could locally for the Genesis Foundation,” River Bandits general manager Joe Kubly said Monday.

Hit a Cinematic Homer With Movies at Davenport's Modern Woodmen ParkKubly said there may be more movies in October, but the park weekends are booked the first two weekends for private events already, so it will be pending weather the rest of that month.

The movies in the park are shown with a maximum of 10-percent seating capacity (roughly 850 patrons) and all the seats in the bowl are blocked off into pods to ensure social distancing, he said.
