Yak Attack Smacks Into Q-C This WeekendWhether you are a seasoned kayaker or a newbie looking for a good time, you will not want to miss this event!

Quad Cities Kayakers Group and Barefoot Plus Watersports is hosting their very first Rock River YakAttack! On Saturday Aug 12, kayaks will be attacking the Rock River in force.

The event begins at 9 a.m. at the Colona Boat Launch (next to Timbrook Ball Diamond). The group of kayaks will then make their way 7.5 miles on the Rock River and end at Len Brown’s North Shore Inn in Moline. The entire trip should take 3-4 hours.

There will be a shuttle waiting for kayakers at the end of the voyage, to take them back to their vehicles at the Colona Boat Launch. It is recommended, however, to drop your kayaks off in Colona, take your vehicles to Len Brown’s and then carpool back to Colona.

Len Brown’s will have refreshments and a BBQ vendor for those interested in a relaxing drink or sandwich after the fun paddle down the river.

There is no entry fee for this first time YakAttack. If you are interested in joining you can go to the Facebook event page at https://www.facebook.com/events/252004718645362 and simply click ‘going’. Then meet up at the Colona Boat Launch on Saturday at 9 a.m. ready for a good time! Everyone attending this scenic paddle down the river will receive a free koozie!

Carlos Barreto, the owner/operator of Barefoot Plus Watersports and the organizer behind the YakAttack, is looking forward to seeing how many kayakers will join for this first-time event. He shares, “We are blessed with some wonderful natural resources right here in the Quad Cities and sportsmen or any outdoor enthusiast are able to choose the many different things that are offered right here in our own backyard.”

Don’t miss this opportunity for a relaxing paddle down the quiet and calm Rock River!
