It’s hard to believe looking at Muscatine Native David Casas, that he has 20 years of professional entertainment under his belt. It all began back in 1997 when David was strolling around North Park Mall in Davenport, IA. He came across a kiosk where 2 magicians were demonstrating magic tricks. David had no idea that his life was about to change forever. Casas began taking magic lessons at Robert’s Magic Shop in Davenport, every Saturday morning.

“Robert Whitaker was my first mentor.” “While most high school students were going to parties, dances, football games, or just hanging out with their friends, I would literally lock myself in my room and practice anywhere from 4 to 8 hours, everyday. To this day I still firmly believe, I didn’t choose to do magic for a living, it chose me.” Casas credits his parents Paul & Gloria, for his drive, determination, discipline, and work ethic.

After graduating from Muscatine High School in 1998, David decided to take a gamble and move to Las Vegas, NV, the mecca of entertainment, in hopes of finding that next mentor who could really hone his skills. The gamble was a success. Shortly after moving out to Las Vegas, Casas met Jason Byrne, a Las Vegas headliner. Byrne would become his mentor and taught Casas everything from performing on stage, to marketing. With the help and guidance from his new mentor, Casas landed jobs performing at the Flamingo Hotel & Casino, and the Greek Isles Hotel & Casino. “I am blessed to be living my dream. Work hard, and always stay humble, has been my motto in life.”

Fast forward to the present 2017. This year marks the 20th year anniversary. Casas currently resides in Davenport, IA, with his wife Leslie. Casas’s hard work has paid off as he now travels all over the country performing magic full time for universities, corporate events, banquets, after proms, festivals, company parties, and more. His unique style of magic has made him one of the most sought after entertainers around. His high energy stage shows combine hilarious family friendly comedy, with jaw dropping sleight of hand, and plenty of audience interaction. You can also find Casas performing close-up magic every Wednesday night at Applebee’s on Elmore Street in Davenport, and as a regular performer for ComedySportz Quad Cities in Rock Island, IL every month. Casas also teaches magic classes for kids throughout the year at the Davenport Junior Theatre, Bettendorf Life Fitness Center, and at the Muscatine Community Y.
