WQPT was honored on Saturday, September 30, 2023, at the Mid-America Emmy Awards, taking home a prestigious Emmy for their locally written and produced historical documentary, Snapshots: Your Dutch Friend. This documentary tells the story of how two young sisters, Juanita and Betty Wagner of Danville, Iowa became pen pals with Anne Frank and her sister Margo, just as Amsterdam was occupied by Nazi Germany on May 10, 1940. MOLINE, ILLINOIS – Regional College students have been making a difference for years as WQPT/PBS Ambassadors, an elite volunteer group representing WQPT throughout eastern Iowa and western Illinois. The Ambassadors are a more highly trained extension of the WQPT volunteer force representing the station at fairs, community and fundraising events and on television.  It is also a way for students to fulfill their school’s volunteerism requirements while making a difference in the community. The event is offered in partnership with Star Net regions I and III, Western Illinois University, with support from the Grad Center – providing current and relevant information on a variety of topics related to early childhood education, including Equity and Access and is scheduled for Saturday, April 29.
