Taking a page from the college sports signing days, there will be a signing day Monday celebrating Quad-Cities academic and career excellence. The invitation-only event is the Quad-Cities-Wide High School Apprenticeship Day, 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. Monday, April 19, at the Waterfront Convention Center, 2021 State St., Bettendorf. Quad City Arts Debuts New Public Sculptures Around Quad-Cities

Six public sculptures in Bettendorf and four in Rock Island are in the process of being replaced with new ones. Each city has elected to keep one sculpture from last years’ selection for another year. Quad City Arts has facilitated the leasing and installation of public sculpture in the Quad Cities since 2002. The City of Rock Island has participated in the program, yearly, since 2007 and Bettendorf, since 2008. All of the sculptures are for sale and can be purchased by individuals, businesses or the city for permanent installation after June of the following year. Spring is here! Which means it’s time to clean up the remnants of a harsh winter. Volunteers are needed for Bettendorf in Bloom, which takes place on Saturday Apr 6. Bettendorf in Bloom will focus on the clean-up and beautification of downtown streets and the I-74 corridor to Middle Road, in Bettendorf. Volunteers will meet at 8 a.m. at the Quad Cities-Waterfront Convention Center (2021 State Street Bettendorf).
