The Central Mock Trial teams rocked the regional competition at St. Ambrose earlier this week!  The Blue team won the bid to the 2024 Iowa High School Mock Trial Tournament in Des Moines on March 28-30!  Congratulations to our hardworking students, many of whom were recognized as outstanding attorneys or witnesses. SAU Football Player Titus-Porter Serves As Mentor For Davenport Elementary Kids

De’Viann Titus-Porter, or ‘TP’ to his many friends, is a graduating senior at St. Ambrose University and football player. TP is also a graduate of North High School! Over the past school year, TP served as a mentor at Wilson Elementary School and today the school threw an event called ‘Bee the Difference’ featuring SAU cheerleaders and football players. De Viann Titus-Porter, a St. Ambrose football player and senior who graduated from North High School, has organized an event with St. Ambrose athletics at Wilson Elementary to motivate students. De Viann has been volunteering with Wilson Elementary since February 1st and has volunteered close to 300 hours. St. Ambrose in Davenport encourages but will not require Covid vaccination this fall.

In partnership with EveryChild, St. Ambrose University hosted a pinwheel garden dedication at the St. Ambrose Children’s Campus at 3:00pm on April 5th. Students from the Children’s Campus at SAU were present to help plant the pinwheels. The garden dedication and planting is part of National Child Abuse Prevention Month, a time when communities nationwide recognize the role everyone plays in keeping kids safe. In yet another example of innovative Quad-Cities artists getting creative due to Covid, St. Ambrose University will present a unique filmed theater project tonight at 7:30 p.m. at Galvin Fine Arts Center, 518 W. Locust St., Davenport. Quad-Cities Colleges Not Among Hundreds Nationwide to Require Covid Vaccination

A greater portion of people in Scott County have been fully vaccinated than Rock Island County -- 58% compared to 50%.

On June 14, when “The Late Show With Stephen Colbert” returned to live audiences at the Ed Sullivan Theater in New Work City, everyone attending had to prove they were fully vaccinated against Covid. Same when Bruce Springsteen returned to Broadway on June 26. More than 500 U.S. colleges and universities also are requiring proof of Covid vaccination for students to return to campus this fall, but that number does not include any school yet in the Quad-Cities. The annual Juneteenth festival in the Quad-Cities will be held Saturday, June 19, at TMBC at The Lincoln Center, 318 E. 7th St., Davenport, the former Lincoln Elementary School. Open since Feb. 1, 2021, TMBC stands for “Together Making a Better Community,” and the free Juneteenth event will be 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, including food and retail vendors, history and information booths, fun-filled games and entertainment for the whole family.
