Northern Parallels 046 is dropping on Saturday, April 24 — it’s Mike’s Birthday Backyard Boogie Edition, outside of Rozz-Tox, 2108 3rd Ave., Rock Island! Rozz Tox is back for another Northern Parallels open air event from 8 p.m. to 1 a.m. We’re bringing the DJ booth outside in the backyard of Rozz-Tox again for our 4th year of events, come dance under the moon. Erika Holshoe has traveled from one end of the U.S. to the other, and to Europe, to pursue her passions. The bubbly 25-year-old is now in her dream job as new assistant director of the German American Heritage Center and Museum, 712 W. 2nd St., Davenport. It marries her affection for her own family’s German heritage, German culture, language, and her love of museums. Holshoe has hustled since she began work here in January to conceive, research, assemble and install the latest GAHC exhibit – “Who? What? Wear? German Center in Davenport and Rozz-Tox in Rock Island Partner for New Film Series

Davenport’s German American Heritage Center and Rock Island’s Rozz-Tox are partnering for a new monthly German film series, on the first Friday each month at Rozz-Tox (2108 3rd Ave.) To be streamed outside in the Rozz-Tox “Kinogarten” (German for “film garden”), the first flick is April 2 with “The Edukators” (2004), directed by Hans Weingartner, rated R. Each film is free and features English subtitles (no registration needed). Hundreds Of Quad-Cities Businesses Positively Impacted Through $275 Million Illinois Grant

As previously reported on QuadCities.com, thousands of businesses statewide including a large number of Quad-Cities businesses, benefited from over $275 million in grants given by the state of Illinois to small businesses negatively impacted by covid-19. According to the business grant website, the Business Interruption Grant (BIG) program was developed by Governor JB Pritzker and the Illinois General Assembly to provide $580 million in economic relief for small businesses hit hardest by COVID-19.
