The Solar Eclipse was a “totally” awesome experience for Rock Island school students yesterday! A HUGE THANK YOU to the Rock Island Public Library for donating 1895 solar eclipse glasses to the district! Students and staff across the district immersed themselves in this celestial event, from using their eclipse glasses to witness the view, to engaging in activities to create their own artistic representation of the solar eclipse, to creative lessons that explained what a solar eclipse is.  Read More

A Washington Jr. High student got to have her wish come true! Markelah Hicks suffers from diabetes and wanted to meet a princess so the staff at WJHS made it happen! At just the age of 17 Moon Haynes is a published writer. Moon, a senior at Thurgood Marshall Learning Center says she’s always enjoyed writing and it’s kind of therapeutic for her.
