Davenport Intermediate School Girls Attend John Deere Introduce A Girl To Engineering Day

Over 150 girls from all five intermediate schools in Davenport attended Introduce a Girl to Engineering Day put on by John Deere. They spent the day working individually and as a team to build a car that kept an egg safe, created a memory game, and worked on an engine. John Deere To Donate $1.7 Million to River Bend Food Bank in 2021

Moline-based John Deere  — which started River Bend Food Bank in 1982 in response to the ’80s farm crisis — committed Thursday to donate $1.7 million to the Food Bank in 2021, part of a planned $7 million through the John Deere Foundation over the rest of this decade. Despite the PGA Tour 2020 John Deere Classic being canceled this summer due to Covid concerns, it helped raise $12.22 million for 465 local and regional charities, through the annual Birdies for Charity program. Tournament officials Friday also announced that each participating charity will receive a 5-percent bonus in addition to the money raised through the Birdies for Charity program. The revered and lauded local golf tournament drawing fans and sportsmen from around the world, the John Deere Classic, runs at Moline’s Deere Run course Thursday through Sunday. Competitors began teeing off today, with a wide-range of events and promotions surrounding the event. Favorites for the trophy this year include Vegas odds favorite Collin Morikawa. John Deere’s most popular family event, the Annual Duck Hatching, is back yet again!
