Do you love sausages? Then you’ll love this Best of the Wurst competition! Join the German American Heritage Center & Museum (712 W 2nd Street Davenport) this Saturday Jun 17 from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. for the 2nd Annual Best of the Wurst. Sample sausage from local vendors, purchase delicious food and enjoy an ice-cold beer. Enjoy music by the Guttenberg German Band, and vote for the “Best of the Wurst!” Tickets are just $5 and children 12 and under are free. New Davenport Museum Staffer Sitting Pretty in Pink at Dream Job

Erika Holshoe has traveled from one end of the U.S. to the other, and to Europe, to pursue her passions. The bubbly 25-year-old is now in her dream job as new assistant director of the German American Heritage Center and Museum, 712 W. 2nd St., Davenport. It marries her affection for her own family’s German heritage, German culture, language, and her love of museums. German Center in Davenport and Rozz-Tox in Rock Island Partner for New Film Series

Davenport’s German American Heritage Center and Rock Island’s Rozz-Tox are partnering for a new monthly German film series, on the first Friday each month at Rozz-Tox (2108 3rd Ave.) To be streamed outside in the Rozz-Tox “Kinogarten” (German for “film garden”), the first flick is April 2 with “The Edukators” (2004), directed by Hans Weingartner, rated R. Each film is free and features English subtitles (no registration needed).
