The public is invited to be a part of the Figge Art Museum’s next major exhibition, For America: 200 Years of Painting from the National Academy of Design, opening Feb. 20, 2021. Drawn from the collections of the National Academy of Design in New York, over 90 works made between 1810 and 2013 by historical and contemporary masters such as Winslow Homer, William Merritt Chase, John Singer Sargent, Andrew Wyeth, Jaune Quick-to-See-Smith, Charles White, Jane Freilicher, Hank Willis Thomas, and many others will be available for adoption as part of the Figge’s “Adopt-a-Painting” initiative. Davenport's Figge Art Museum Displays New Acquisitions

Many of the works the Figge Art Museum has collected over the past few years provide insight into modern American life from various points of view. Beginning Saturday, New American Scene: Recent Acquisitions to the Figge Collection will be displayed on the second-floor Gildehaus Gallery, examining some of these modern perspectives on American life with 15 featured works that have been added to the museum’s collection in the last five years. Over 200 decorated birdhouses will be on display at the Figge Art Museum, Davenport, from Oct. 2 to 11, along with the Living Proof art exhibit. “They are up a short time because we want to get them out to bring hope and joy to Quad Citizens touched by cancer,” Pamela Crouch, executive director of Living Proof Exhibit (LPE), said Thursday. Figge Art Museum Café to Reopen on Sept. 8

The Figge Café, which has been closed since March 17 due to Covid, will be reopening to the public on Tuesday, Sept. 8 at 11 a.m. The café is inside the Figge Art Museum, 225 W. 2nd St., Davenport, which reopened in June. This reopening will feature the culinary skills of Chef Jason Stewart from Zeke’s Island Café. Stewart, also known as “Chef Stu,” is a classically trained chef who has a passion for creating food from different cultures around the world.
