Richmond Hill in Geneseo to Audition for John Patrick Shanley Play

Richmond Hill Players in Geneseo is holding auditions this weekend for its first play in 2021. The auditions, by appointment, will be Saturday, June 5, from 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. and Sunday, June 6, 3 to 4:30 p.m., at the Barn Theatre. The play, “Outside Mullingar,” is a 2014 romantic comedy about Anthony Reilly and Rosemary Muldoon, two introverted misfits entering middle age. Directed by Jennifer Kingry, the performance dates will be Aug. 5-8 and 12-15, 2021. The Illinois Quad-Cities will open up more today and leave many covid restrictions behind as the state moves into a “Bridge Phase,” dropping many covid restrictions on businesses and the public. Governor JB Pritzker announced the lifting of the restrictions this week, and said that he foresees a full state reopening by June 11, given the increasing numbers of people in Illinois being vaccinated. BREAKING NEWS: While covid-19 numbers across Illinois have been getting worse, particularly in the Quad-Cities’ Region 2, that may not automatically trigger shutdowns and mitigations, Illinois Department of Health officials said today. “The resurgence mitigation plan was designed before we had vaccines,” Illinois Department of Public Health spokeswoman Melaney Arnold said in a statement. Tim Heyvaert, of Erie, Ill., was just 57 when he died Feb. 21, 2016, after a long battle with various medical conditions. His son Wyatt – as he’s done in past years – will lead his band in a memorial tribute, this year in a new venue. The Q-C country band Dirt Road Rockers will perform Saturday, April 24 at 9:30 p.m., with other musicians invited to join, at Harley Corin’s, 1708 State St., Bettendorf. On Friday, Feb. 5, the Geneseo-based Richmond Hill Players announced it will temporarily suspend the 2021 season due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic. “We will continue to monitor the situation, and when it is safe to return to our theater, we will make a final determination on the 2021 season,” RHP president Jonathan Grafft posted on the theater’s Facebook page and website,  www.rhplayers.com.
