My Library Rewards Launches At RIPL

With access to a universe of items and services, having any library card is a reward in itself. And now there are few extra rewards, thanks to a first-in-the area program adopted by the Rock Island Public Library. The Rock Island Public Library is the first public library in the Quad Cities to subscribe to My Library Rewards™, a reading incentive program that promotes literacy, learning, and community engagement. On exhibit from June 28 through August 16, 2019 at Quad City Arts in downtown Rock Island will be paintings by Christopher Reno of Galesburg, IL, and digital collages by Rene Meyer Ernst of Davenport, IA. Christopher Reno creates paintings that are based on the grid as a structure from which to improvise. The Rock Island Library continues its summer of space with a view of the stars at the John Deere Planetarium at Augustana College on June 17. Rock Island Library is  hosting a free presentation by Dr. Lee Carkner, director of the John Deere Planetarium, at 10:00 am on Monday, June 17 at the planetarium on the Augustana College grounds. A Tempest Is Brewing At Genesius Guild

The Genesius Guild will present The Tempest by Shakespeare on June 15, 16, 22, and 23. Performances start at 8:00 p.m. at the Lincoln Park Classic Theatre in Rock Island. Admission is free. The Tempest is thought to be one of the last plays that Shakespeare wrote without collaborating with other authors. Beneath the comic themes about a ship crew stranded on the enchanted island, the show explores themes of family, betrayal, and forgiveness.
