Go Team! 2021 Cheer and Dance National Championship to be Held at St. Ambrose, Davenport

The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) 2021 cheer and dance national championships will return to St. Ambrose University, Davenport, in March. The championship tournaments were recently relocated due to a scheduling conflict with the Eastern Michigan Convocation Center. The championships will move from Ypsilanti, Mich., to Davenport, and will be hosted by St. Ambrose and Visit Quad Cities. The Quad Cities River Bandits will move up a level of play and become a Kansas City Royals affiliate, whenever the team ends up playing again after covid-19 mitigations. Major League Baseball announced today that the Quad Cities River Bandits and eleven other Midwest League teams will be moving up one level of play, as the team and the league have been promoted from Single-A to Advanced-A baseball. That puts Quad Cities players just below Double-A and one step closer to the major leagues. Regina Catholic High School are the Iowa Class A State Football Champions! The Regals defeated Grundy Center 52 -28 in a lopsided game which saw them up 31-7 at half before cruising to the title. According to the school’s Facebook page, Regina Catholic Education Center seeks to build a school community where learners grow in knowledge, self-esteem, spirituality, respect for others, and a sense of social responsibility. Storm hockey will not return to Moline’s TaxSlayer until at least fall of 2021. Due to restrictions on mass gatherings put in place by the State of Illinois as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic the Quad City Storm will be sitting out the 2020-2021 SPHL season.  The State is currently in Phase 4 of the “Restore Illinois” plan, which prohibits individuals from attending large gatherings without a proven vaccine or cure for COVID-19.  The current mandate would allow just fifty people to attend a Storm game.
