Regina Catholic Wins Iowa Class A State Football Championship

Regina Catholic High School are the Iowa Class A State Football Champions! The Regals defeated Grundy Center 52 -28 in a lopsided game which saw them up 31-7 at half before cruising to the title. According to the school’s Facebook page, Regina Catholic Education Center seeks to build a school community where learners grow in knowledge, self-esteem, spirituality, respect for others, and a sense of social responsibility. Soccer fans are going to score big this weekend as the Quad-Cities First Annual Q-C World Cup debuts from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. at Campbell Sports Complex, 8399 29th St W, Rock Island! Quad City Storm Sitting Out The 2020-2021 Season Due To Covid

Storm hockey will not return to Moline’s TaxSlayer until at least fall of 2021. Due to restrictions on mass gatherings put in place by the State of Illinois as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic the Quad City Storm will be sitting out the 2020-2021 SPHL season.  The State is currently in Phase 4 of the “Restore Illinois” plan, which prohibits individuals from attending large gatherings without a proven vaccine or cure for COVID-19.  The current mandate would allow just fifty people to attend a Storm game. Quad City Storm Eyeing December Start Date For Season

Could there be some hockey this year after all? Maybe, but it’ll be late this year. Abbie Metz Named Coach Of Black Hawk College’s First Women’s Soccer Team

MOLINE (BHC) — Black Hawk College will launch its new women’s soccer program with a familiar face. Abbie Metz, a Black Hawk College grad, has been tapped to lead the team that will begin competing in Fall 2021. On Aug. 1, she will become the Braves’ first-ever women’s soccer head coach. “I look forward to working with her on building the program from the ground up,” said Arnie Chavera, interim athletic director. Quad City River Bandits Cancel Season

There will be no joy in Mudville, or Davenport, again this year. The Quad City River Bandits have canceled their season, in accordance with Major League Baseball’s decision to cancel the entirety of the 2020 minor league season. This is the second year in a row the Bandits’ season has been decimated, as the 2019 season was destroyed due to flooding in downtown Davenport. June 16th is the last day to register for Competitive Tryouts for East Moline Silvis Soccer Club! Tryouts will be a little different this year due to the Covid-19 restrictions put in place by the state.
