Top Soccer Program Cancelled For Spring

The Top Soccer program scheduled to debut this spring with East Moline Silvis Soccer Club has been cancelled due to coronavirus concerns. The club sent out the following email today: With the IYSA mandates regarding delaying the start of the spring soccer season, EMSSC is cancelling Top Soccer for spring 2020.  If you registered, we will contact you directly.  We will begin the program with the fall 2020 season, starting in September.  Thank you for understanding and we hope to see our Top Soccer athletes in the fall!  Read More

Dave Pszenczny Inked To Two-Year Extension With Quad City Storm

The Quad City Storm is excited to announce Storm head coach Dave Pszenczny has been signed to a two-year contract extension.  In an abbreviated second season with the Storm, Pszenyczny increased the team’s winning percentage significantly and navigated the Storm in to one of eight playoff positions at year’s end. “We made great progress in multiple ways this season,” said Pszenyczny. “I’m disappointed this team didn’t get a chance to excite the Quad Cities in the playoff push and postseason, but I couldn’t be more excited for next year.  I’d put our returning core of players... Read More

Gwen Tombergs Skates From Quad City Storm To United Way

The Quad City Storm announced today that Storm President, Gwen Tombergs, will be stepping down and joining the United Way staff as their Vice President of Development. “The Storm is on solid ground and everything is in place to keep the team going strong,” said Tombergs. “Our front office is trained, processes are in place and we have a great coach and team.  I feel comfortable handing over the reins.” Team owner, John Dawson, said the position at United Way is a good fit for Tombergs. “Her passion has always been to help the community and she built the Storm’s reputation on that.... Read More

Illinois Youth Soccer has been working to stop the spread of coronavirus through youth soccer by cancelling events through, at least, April 15, with more cancellations potentially being announced. They’ve got the backing of one of the greatest soccer players of all time, Cristiano Ronaldo. Today, Ronaldo issued a statement about the coronavirus through his instagram. Sean Leary Soccer Camp Canceled Due To Coronavirus Concerns

The first annual Sean Leary Pre-Season Soccer Camp, originally due to run March 14-April 11, has been canceled due to concerns about the coronavirus. Illinois Youth Soccer Association has canceled all events and issued a mandatory cancellation order for events up through April 15 for all clubs in the state, and the camp is following that order. The decision was made not only out of concern for children attending the camp, but for their grandparents and younger siblings who are the most vulnerable to exposure to the virus, as well as parents and coaches. Quad City Storm End Their Season Due To Coronavirus

The puck stops here. Amidst a furious playoff run and some fantastic entertainment in front of growing crowds, the Quad City Storm has pulled the plug on their second season on order of their league, the SPHL. EMSSC Postpones All Soccer Practices And Activities

East Moline Silvis Soccer Club has postponed all soccer practices and related team activities for rec and travel soccer teams due to considerations over the coronavirus. According to an e-mail from the club: Due to Illinois Youth Soccer Association (IYSA) guidelines, we will not be able to start our spring season at its desired time.  As of now we will not have practices starting until after March 31st.  We will keep everyone up to date as we learn more.
