The Central Mock Trial teams rocked the regional competition at St. Ambrose earlier this week!  The Blue team won the bid to the 2024 Iowa High School Mock Trial Tournament in Des Moines on March 28-30!  Congratulations to our hardworking students, many of whom were recognized as outstanding attorneys or witnesses. The district’s F.A.C.E (Family and Community Engagement) recognizes parents/guardians who are making a positive impact in our school district and community. Schools can nominate a parent/guardian who goes above and beyond to support the needs of children, our school, and/or our community. Visit Quad Cities is pleased to announce the 2024 Patty Viverito Emerging Leader Scholarship recipients. Named in honor of Patty Viverito, former senior associate commissioner at the Missouri Valley Conference (MVC) and MVC football commissioner, the program recognizes female student-athletes who demonstrate academic excellence, leadership characteristics and community engagement. Applicants were tasked with submitting a 500-word essay detailing their leadership experience, volunteerism and sports participation. Rock Island High School Young Entrepreneurs Win In Pitch Competition

Rock Island schools’ INCubadatoredu students have been busy! Last Thursday RIHS team The Swaver was the opening act of Fortress Bank’s 2nd annual Bank Tank Entrepreneur pitch competition. The team represented represented the district very well. Swaver is a product you put in your toilet tank that reduces the amount of water flushed, thereby saving both water and money. They received a $5,000 donation to our Incubatoredu program. Then over the weekend, three teams of Incubatoredu Entrepreneurship students had tables at the Black Expo held at Southpark Mall. Rock Island High School 2011 State Champions Inducted Into Hall Of Fame

Congratulations to the Rock Island High School IHSA Boys’ Basketball State Champions in Class 3A in 2011 who will be inducted into the Illinois Basketball Coaches Association Hall of Fame. The ceremony will take place on Saturday, May 4, 2024, at 5:30. The team members and the coaching staff will be recognized at a banquet held on the campus of Illinois State University at CEFCU Arena. Edison Junior High Chess Team Competes At Illinois Tournament

Edison’s Chess Team competed in the IESA State Chess Tournament this past weekend! They competed in 8 matches each on Friday and Saturday. Some of these students had never played Chess until this year when they joined the Chess Club – a part of the 21st CCLC Lights On For Learning Programs at Edison. They competed against 53 schools and came in the top half at 22!! Congratulations to Connor Schultz, Ywa Pweh, Brandi Lee, Mykal Holliday, Chris Pedroza, Colby Howser, Adonius Harmon, Anthony Moa, Joseph Tavernier, Ryan Hearn and Bri Schrempf.
