Members of the teen LGBTQIA community and teen allies are invited to join Miss Amber on Zoom for the 2nd Annual Teens Read with Pride to celebrate books from all across the rainbow! Black Magic Drag Show Hits The Stage On Juneteenth At Davenport's Varieties Nightclub

Varieties Nightclub, 822 W. 2nd St., will be hosting a Juneteenth event titled Black Magic: Juneteenth Edition. The event begins Saturday, June 19 at 10:30 p.m. While there are other venues which host Drag nights and events, Varieties Nightclub is the only Drag Bar in the Quad Cities, which is a fitting place to celebrate both Queer and Black liberation this June. In honor of June being Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Queer (LGBTQ) Pride Month, The Project of the Quad Cities is for the first time holding a free Pride at Bass Street Landing on June 4-5. Presented with sponsors ReCept Pharmacy (The Project on-site pharmacy at 1701 River Drive, Moline) and Arconic, the nearby event (on the plaza off 17th and River Drive) will be 6 to 11 p.m. Friday, June 4, and 9:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. Saturday, June 5, including food, live music, drag performances and education. At a time of unprecedented economic, racial, social and health upheaval, some Quad-Cities LGBTQ leaders are taking comfort in the recent U.S. Supreme Court decision on workplace civil rights. DAVENPORT – The Figge Art Museum will celebrate Quad-Cities Pride starting Saturday with its first dual virtual/gallery exhibition. Works by Cedar Rapids-based photojournalist Andy Abeyta will be in the Figge’s second-floor Lewis Gallery once the museum reopens, but will also be available Saturday, May 2, for online viewing at figgeartmuseum.org.
