It’ time to celebrate! The Argrow’s 5th year anniversary celebration will be held on September 15th at 6pm at the Quad City Botanical Garden! This year will include a virtual speech from Mrs. Joy Reyes. Joy is the Founder and Executive Director of a social enterprise called New Hope Girls. They did Iowa proud, but Davenport Southwest Little League just couldn’t pull it off in that last inning, losing 8-7 to Great Lakes (Hagerstown, Indiana) in the opening game of the Little League World Series — a game that Bleacher Report called “an instant Little League World Series classic.” Davenport isn’t out of it yet though — they will move to the elimination bracket to play Northwest (Bonney Lake, Washington). Davenport, Iowa is going back to the Little League Baseball World Series for the first time since 1975! The 12u Little League Allstar Team won the Midwest Regional Little League Tournament last weekend and will represent the State of Iowa in the Little League World Series from August 18-28th. This is the first time since 1975 that a team from Southeast Little League has made it to the LLWS. A new monthly support group is being formed in Rock Island for families and friends of those incarcerated. The group is called 1 By 1 Foundation and its founder, Deacon Tim Granet, is inviting anyone who has a loved one behind bars to attend the first meeting—see attached flyer. The meeting is being held Saturday, July 23 from 9 to 11 am at St.Pius Catholic Church (McCarthy Hall) in Rock Island. DAVENPORT, Iowa – July 7, 2022 – What began in 2019 as a way to give back to the Quad Cities region for Genesis Health System’s 150th anniversary continues to gain momentum in 2022. For a fourth year, Genesis will “Pack the Bus” and collect school supplies for students across the region. Rock Island School District Offering Free Meals To Children Through June

The Rock Island-Milan School District is offering breakfast and lunch at no cost to children under the age of 18 for the month of June, regardless of income level or school district boundary area. Meals will be offered at Rock Island High School (1400 25th Avenue) from June 2 -29. Breakfast is from 7:30-8:30 a.m. and Lunch is from 11:15 a.m.-12:15 p.m. Meals must be consumed on site.
