BREAKING NEWS: Covid-19 metrics are rapidly accelerating across Illinois, an ominous sign that more mitigations and a potential shutdown could be on the horizon. According to the Illinois Department of Public Health, over the previous three days, cases are up 7,858 (up 2,256 compared to last weekend). BREAKING NEWS: Illinois renters worried about the expiring eviction order at the end of July got a reprieve today from the CDC, which issued an order halting all evictions in areas of “substantial” and “high” covid transmission rates until at least October. Much of Illinois is in the “substantial” zone. Locally, Rock Island County is in the “substantial” zone and Scott County is in the “high” zone, meaning the entire Quad-Cities area and surrounding rural areas are covered. BREAKING NEWS: Illinois students preschool through 12 will be required to wear masks during school and indoor sports and activities, Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker just announced. As previously reported on QuadCities.com, during an online press conference this afternoon, the governor announced that due to spiking covid rates, especially among unvaccinated people, there would be a return to some covid mitigations in Illinois. Over 14 percent of Quad-Citians could face evictions today after the expiration of the rent moratorium due to covid-19. In June, CDC Director Dr. Rochelle Walensky signed an extension to the eviction moratorium further preventing the eviction of tenants who were unable to make rental payments. The moratorium that was scheduled to expire on June 30, 2021 was extended through July 31, 2021 — yesterday. Richmond Hill Players will hold auditions for the last two shows of the 2021 season Sunday, July 25 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Barn Theatre in Geneseo. The plays holding auditions are Clue: Onstage by Jonathan Lynn, directed by Dana Skiles, with the show running in mid-October; and Every Christmas Story Ever Told (And Then Some!) by John K. Alvarez, Michael Carleton and James FitzGerald, directed by Mike Skiles, with the show running in early December. BREAKING: Great News For Covid Cases In Illinois, Quad-Cities!

There’s been fantastic news in regard to covid cases in Illinois and the Quad-Cities! Yesterday, we reported that Genesis Health Systems was reporting no hospitalizations from covid. Today, the Rock Island County Health Department reports no new cases of COVID-19. The total number of cases remains at 14,998. Currently, there are no patients hospitalized in the county with the virus.
