May The 4th Be With You: ALL ‘Star Wars’ Films Ranked! What’s Number One?

May 4th, 2021

Star Wars is the most popular space saga and most exciting adventure film franchise in the world. It captured the hearts and minds of all ages and created an entire community of its own. And, since partnering with Disney, the force and its popularity has grown and become an even hotter brand. I admittedly can’t call myself a major Star Wars geek but I do admire the films and their rock star entertainment value. I love getting lost in their world and as today is Star Wars Day, I put on the Disney +documentary Empire of Dreams (highly recommended) and decided to rank the existing 11 films. BREAKING: All Iowans May Be Eligible For Covid Vaccine In April

March 17th, 2021

BREAKING NEWS: All Iowans could be eligible to get the covid-19 vaccine as early as April 5, if all goes according to plan, Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds said in a virtual press conference this afternoon. Reynolds said she talked to President Biden’s covid transition team on Tuesday, at which point they said vaccine production was going to be ramping up in the coming weeks, allowing states to be able to begin scheduling potential times for vaccines. Reynolds also addressed computer problems the state had been having with its covid data base and said they had been fixed, and should not impact... Read More

Iowans Are Smarter Than ‘Covid Kim,’ And They’re Proving It

February 10th, 2021

Yesterday, I wrote about the moronic decision by Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds to do away with her already minimal efforts to mitigate covid-19 — just as statistics were showing that Iowa is one of the worst, and least safe, states in the country in regard to keeping its citizens covid-free. I’d say her actions were ill-advised, but apparently, Reynolds took no advice in regard to making them. She ignored scientists, healthcare professionals (you know, those people she loves to pose for photo ops with, and hollowly praise as “heroes” while undercutting them with her actions)... Read More

Iowa covid-19 cases and deaths are continuing to triple the number in Illinois, which continues to experience a rise in cases of its own, despite Illinois’ much larger population. UPDATED: Illinois will remain under tier 3 covid mitigations for at least two to three more weeks, and could elevate to a more restrictive level if numbers get worse, Illinois Governor JB Pritzker said during his press conference today. Illinois covid numbers leapt back up after a few days of numbers getting better. After yesterday’s report of just 6,190 new cases, today’s report listed 12,542 new cases in Illinois and 125 new deaths over the past 24 hours. Toilet Paper Shortages Are Hitting Quad-Cities Stores…Again

November 18th, 2020

Quad-Cities stores are far from flush with toilet paper. With new covid-19 restrictions in place for the Iowa and Illinois Quad-Cities, toilet paper is flying off the shelves again in local stores, although other staple food and supply items seem to be remaining stable on shelves. A visit to six area locations — two Targets, a Walmart, a Sam’s Club, and two HyVee stores — showed that shelves are barren in some, but still in ok shape in others. Iowa side stores seem to be in more of a frenzy, given Governor Kim Reynolds’ proclamations and immediate restrictions put in place... Read More
