Over One In Ten Quad-Citians Could Be Evicted Today. What Can You Do To Find Help?

Over 14 percent of Quad-Citians could face evictions today after the expiration of the rent moratorium due to covid-19. In June, CDC Director Dr. Rochelle Walensky signed an extension to the eviction moratorium further preventing the eviction of tenants who were unable to make rental payments. The moratorium that was scheduled to expire on June 30, 2021 was extended through July 31, 2021 — yesterday. The Scott County Health Department released alarming data today regarding rapidly rising covid-19 levels in the Iowa Quad-Cities and surrounding areas. The site released the following on social media: Due to an increase in our percent positive rate in the past 7 days, Scott County is now in the 𝗦𝗨𝗕𝗦𝗧𝗔𝗡𝗧𝗜𝗔𝗟 level of transmission of the coronavirus. Bettendorf, IA – The Bettendorf Public Library’s popular Brown Bag Lunch series is offering the community a month-long virtual opportunity to enjoy local music. In a really, really cool move and some great positive news, kids won’t have to worry about getting rides to and from school and activities this fall! Metro is offering free bus rides to K-12 students on their bus routes. Students need to show their ID for the ride, and as per existing rules, all passengers need to wear a mask on the buses. Quad City Arts Public Sculpture Program Pleases Artists and Property Owners

Superman is hardly the only “Man of Steel.” That moniker could apply to Steven Maeck of Decorah, Iowa, a sculptor who works in welded and assembled steel. The 64-year-old Vermont native is among 10 Midwest artists chosen this year to have their sculptures leased and placed throughout the Quad-Cities last month, in Quad City Arts’ public sculpture program. The pieces will be on display through June 5, 2022. Maeck’s work, “Muso’s Thought,” is near the Channel Cat dock on the Mississippi River in downtown Moline near the Radisson hotel.
