Will You Need A Vaccine To See A Quad-Cities Concert? Venues In Q-C, Across U.S., Eyeing New Requirements

In order ensure the safety and well-being of all guests and artists, the new Mockingbird On Main theater at 320 Main St., Davenport, will require all guests, artists, volunteers, staff, sponsors, and media to show valid proof of full Covid vaccination in order to enter the downtown arts space, effective Sept. 1. Proof of vaccination may be digital or a physical card for the 40-seat venue. Children under 12 and unvaccinated patrons must provide proof of a negative Covid-19 test no more than 72 hours prior to attending an indoor performance, according to Mockingbird owner Tristan Tapscott. Reflecting urgent issues that dominated discussions nationwide in 2020-21, the Quad Cities Chamber this week honored a local Covid coalition and a St. Ambrose leader in diversity, equity and inclusion. The Chamber held its Annual Meeting on Wednesday, Aug. 11, at Davenport’s Rhythm City Casino Resort. The 2021 Hunter Classic, benefiting the HAVlife™ Foundation, will be held Monday, October 4, 2021, at  Crow Valley Country Club, 4315 E. 60th Street, Davenport, IA. Registration will be held at 11 a.m. with a shotgun start at 12 noon. A total of 144 golfers can compete. The Quad Cities Astronomical Society and the Pleasant Valley High School Astronomy Club will co-host a meteor shower viewing party at Pleasant Valley Junior High School, at 3501 Wisconsin Street in Leclaire, on Saturday, August 7.  The viewing party will begin at dusk, approximately 8:30 p.m. The family-friendly event is free and open to the public.  Masks are optional at this outdoor event, but are encouraged in areas where social distancing cannot be maintained. Veterans who put their boots – and roots – in Scott County now may be eligible for up to $8,250 in relocation incentives after the county’s new designation as a Home Base Iowa (HBI) community. The designation involves area partners including Scott County, the City of Davenport and the Quad Cities Chamber. BREAKING: CDC Issues New Eviction Moratorium, Saving Illinois Renters At Last Minute

BREAKING NEWS: Illinois renters worried about the expiring eviction order at the end of July got a reprieve today from the CDC, which issued an order halting all evictions in areas of “substantial” and “high” covid transmission rates until at least October. Much of Illinois is in the “substantial” zone. Locally, Rock Island County is in the “substantial” zone and Scott County is in the “high” zone, meaning the entire Quad-Cities area and surrounding rural areas are covered.
