On Wednesday, March 27, 2024, Congressman Eric Sorensen (IL-17) toured Head Start facilities in Rock Falls to discuss efforts in Congress to invest in early childhood education programming in Western Illinois. Congressman Eric Sorensen serves on the House Committee on Agriculture and the House Committee on Science, Space, and Technology. Prior to serving in Congress, Sorensen was a local meteorologist in Rockford and the Quad Cities for nearly 20 years. Cindy Britton Named Western Illinois University Employee Of The Month

Western Illinois University Facilities Management Building Services Employee Cindy Britton has been named the Al and Elaine Goldfarb Civil Service Employee of the Month for March. Britton started at WIU part time in 2005 and was hired full time in 2010. Before WIU, Britton’s favorite roles were being a wife and mother. Congressman Eric Sorensen (IL-17) voted to pass a bipartisan defense spending bill that includes historic wins to support the Rock Island Arsenal and strengthens national security. One hundred enthusiastic Davenport Community School District 7th graders recently attended the Hands-On Trades (HOT) Expo! where they dove into the world of building trades, gaining invaluable insights into various career paths through engaging hands-on activities. Rock Island Milan Little League and Softball are pleased to announce tryouts for Little League and Babe Ruth Fast Pitch Softball for 2024 and beyond! Ages 4-14 will be able to play Little League Softball. Ages 15-18 will be able to play Babe Ruth Softball. Girls from Rock Island, Milan, Sherrard, Aledo, Andalusia and more can play in our league.
