You’ll Foster Good Will Towards The Latest Video You Deserve

You'll Foster Good Will Towards The Latest Video You Deserve

And once the reality TV plague set in, and every good-looking moron became a recording star, and MTV pretty much stopped playing videos in lieu of reality TV,... Read More

Saturday In The Arts offers an in-depth look at a local person, trend or event of interest in the Quad-Cities. It runs weekly on your free local media for arts and entertainment, QuadCities.com. What a difference a president makes. Beyond the relief of seeing President Joe Biden – the polar opposite of Donald Trump in nearly every conceivable way – be sworn in Jan. 20 as our 46th president, the glorious inauguration ceremony and related events before and after got me thinking about the role of the arts on a national level. Music, art, theater, dance, poetry and other art forms truly serve and... Read More

VanHyfte's Magical Creative World Lives On After His Passing

From the time I first saw Tim VanHyfte’s artwork, not long after I moved to the Quad-Cities in the mid-’90s, I was absolutely enthralled. Most of Tim’s subjects were women, and his artwork presented them as beautiful mysteries, fantastic worlds and journeys to be taken through merely the look in their eyes, the way they held themselves, the environments in which they were presented. It was reminiscent of a Gen X version of Andrew Wyeth’s “Christina’s World” —... Read More
