Western Illinois University Athletics will host its largest fundraiser of the year this Saturday (Aug. 13) at Western Hall. The 33rd Annual Purple & Gold Auction will feature a social, silent auction, two cash raffles, dinner, a short program and a live auction benefiting Western’s nearly 400 Leatherneck student-athletes. The online auction is currently open.

The evening begins at 5 p.m. with a social, silent auction, and two cash raffles. Food stations will open at 5:30 p.m. The silent auction will close at 6:45 p.m. During the program, guests will hear from two outstanding student-athletes, as well as new Director of Athletics Paul Bubb. Lowderman Auction Company will begin the live auction at 7:15 p.m.

The cost is $45 for an individual and $360 for a table of eight. New this year, seating will be on a first come first serve basis unless a reserved table of eight is purchased at once in advance. A limited number of reserved tables are available. Registration is available online at https://goleathernecks.com/sports/2014/6/20/leatherneckclub_0620143359. The online auction is available on the Purple & Gold Auction website. Items will be available for two days before ending, and new items are being uploaded daily. All items will open at 8 a.m. CST and close at 8 p.m. CST on their respective days. The online auction ends Friday, August 12. Those wishing to participate in the online portion of Purple & Gold do not need to register for the in-person event. Just click the “My Account” tab and create a new user.
