Two candidates will interview Monday, Nov. 1 and Monday, Nov. 8 for the general manager position at WQPT of the Quad Cities at Western Illinois University.

Dawn Schmitt, interim general manager of WQPT, and Matt Franklin, vice president of Lakeshore Public Media, will interview Nov. 1 and Nov. 8, respectively. Open sessions for campus and community members will be held via Zoom for each candidate. Schmitt has served as the interim general manager since January 2019. She also continues to serve as WQPT’s senior business manager, a position she has held since September 2010. Before joining WQPT, Schmitt was the senior accounting clerk for IPCS Wireless in Geneseo from 2006-2010. She has also worked as an accounting clerk with IPCS in Davenport (2005-2006).

Schmitt earned her master’s degree from the University of Illinois-Springfield and her bachelor’s degree from Culver-Stockton College.

Franklin has served as the vice president of Lakeshore Public Media in Merrillville, IN since 2011. Previously, he was the director of TV operations (2008-2011) and production manager (2005-2008) at Lakeshore. Before joining Lakeshore, Franklin was a post-production supervisor for The Core@Leo Burnett Worldwide in Chicago from 2003-2004. He has also worked as a writer/producer for on-air promotions for the ABC Family Channel in Los Angeles (1999-2003) and as the director of video services for Moxie Picture in Hollywood (1998-2003).

Franklin earned his master’s degree from Florida State University and his bachelor’s degree from Purdue University.
