The Western Illinois University student delegation was recently recognized while attending the Great Lakes Affiliate of College and University Residence Halls (GLACURH) conference.

The delegation was made up of Téa Wheat (NRHH-CC), a senior elementary education major, from Brookfield, IL; Sarah Kallbrier (IHC Western Illinois University GLACURH Delegation Honored at National ConferenceNCC), a senior recreation, park and tourism administration (RPTA), of Carlinville, IL; Brooke Barnes, a junior nursing major, from Plainfield, IL; Jazzy Hennessee, a freshman music major, of Rochelle, IL; Jon’a Levi, a freshman communication major, of Bettendorf, IA; Katlynn Davis, a senior elementary education major, of Aurora, IL; Morgan Knutsen, a senior biology major, of Machesney Park, IL; Rivers Ashton, a freshman art major, of Lincolnton, NC; Sadie Nickles, a senior physics major, of Clinton, IA; and Skylah Richardson, a freshman music major.

Advisors to the delegation were Complex Director Chuck Stock and assistant complex directors Mariah Slaughter and Arianna Nutile.

The group was honored with an award for the National Residence Hall Honorary Chapter of the Year; Best Roll Call video for a small institution, Social Media Spirit award for a small institution, and overall most spirited delegation.

Brooke Barnes was recognized for a top six program presented for “Navigating Amongst Ourselves.” Katlynn Davis also presented a program, “Yoga for Success,” on behalf of Western Illinois University.

The delegation was also recognized for its three Regional of the Month winners this year: Chuck Stock, advisor, and twice for Thompson Hall as Residential Community.

“Despite the challenging conditions of participating in a virtual regional conference this year, we were extremely proud of our students. The group came together and represented Western and University Housing at the highest level possible, while having a great time making new connections,” said Mishelle Oaks, director of Residence Life.
