Western Illinois University announces the following administrative changes and hires.

Centennial Honors College

Lorette Oden, chair of the Department of Health Sciences and Social Work and interim associate dean of the College of Education and Human Services, has been named interim dean of the Centennial Honors College, effective July 1. She will serve in her role as department chair concurrently.

Oden has served as the associate dean since August 2018 and as chair of health sciences and social work since 2015. She joined the department (formerly called the WIU Department of Community Health and Health Services Management) as an assistant professor in 1999. Oden was promoted to associate professor in 2003 and to professor in 2008. Previously, she served as a doctoral research assistant and instructor in the University of Toledo Department of Health Promotion and Human Performance. Oden also served as a Fellow of the 2012 American Association of Blacks in Higher Education Leadership and Mentoring Institute at Miles College in Birmingham, AL.

College of Business & Technology

Craig Conrad has been named the interim dean of the College of Business and Technology, effective July 1.

Conrad served as the interim associate dean and MBA director in the college from July 2018-June 2019. He has served as the director of the School of Management and Marketing, and chair of the Department of Management and Marketing since July 2012. He joined the WIU marketing faculty in January 2001 as an assistant professor. Prior to teaching at WIU, Conrad served as a professor at Wingate University and assistant professor at the University of Tennessee-Martin.

Conrad received his doctorate of business administration from Louisiana Tech University, and an MBA and bachelor’s degree in chemistry from WIU.

College of Education & Human Services

Francis Godwyll has been named the dean of College of Education and Human Services, effective July 1.

Godwyll has served as department chair and professor in the University of West Florida Department of Educational Research and Administration and director of the Ed.D/Ed.S program in curriculum and instruction in the College of Education and Professional Studies since July 2015. Prior to that, he was an associate professor of education leadership and the doctoral program director of educational leadership at the University of North Florida, Jacksonville; associate professor of education at the Department of Educational Studies at Ohio University in Athens, OH; and an assistant professor of education at the Department of Educational Studies at Ohio University in Athens.

Godwyll received his doctoral degree in education from the University of Education, Heidelberg in Heidelberg, Germany; his master’s degree in special education and his bachelor’s degree in religious studies, both from the University of Cape Coast, Ghana.

Enrollment Management

Jeremy Reed, vice president of Enrollment Management and Student Affairs at Northern State University- Aberdeen, has been named the associate vice president for Enrollment Management, effective July 13.

Reed has been the vice president of Enrollment Management and Student Affairs at Northern State University- Aberdeen since 2017. Previously, he served as the director of Undergraduate Admissions at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater (2015-17), director of Career Services (2007-10) and interim orientation coordinator (2002-09) at Augustana College, director of admissions at MacMurrary College (2006-07), assistant dean of students/director of career services at Iowa Wesleyan College (2004-06), hall director (2001-02) and assistant director of admission (1998-02) at Knox College.

Reed earned his doctorate in higher education and student affairs from the University of Iowa, a master’s in higher education and college student personnel from Kent State University and his bachelor’s degree in international studies and political science from Loras College.

International Affairs

Roland Glean, director of operations and general manager for GoUSAdegree, has been named the executive director of International Affairs, effective Aug. 1.

Glean has served as director of operations and general manager for GoUSAdegree since 2019. Previously, he has served as director of International Services from 2006-19 and assistant professor of political science and international recruiter from 1997-06 at MSU (Midwestern State University) in Texas.

Glean earned his doctorate in political science from Washington University (St. Louis), a master’s degree in political science and bachelor’s degree in mass communication from MSU.

“The experiences and knowledge these individuals bring to their respective positions will be crucial as Western moves toward the future. We welcome our new administrators, and thank those who have been serving at WIU and have accepted these new additional responsibilities,” said Interim Provost Billy Clow.
