With its book and lyrics by Bruce Joel Rubin, who won an Academy Award for the film version’s original screenplay, GHOST: THE MUSICAL tells the romantic tale of young couple Sam and Molly, whose romantic connection takes a shocking turn after Sam’s untimely death. Trapped between two worlds, Sam refuses to leave Molly’s side when he learns she’s in grave danger, and desperate to communicate with her, the now-ghostly Sam turns to storefront psychic Oda Mae Brown to help him protect Molly and avenge his killing.

Described by the Daily Express as “genuine theatrical magic” and TalkinBroadway.com as “one of the finest film-to-stage adaptations in recent memory,” GHOST: THE MUSICAL boasts all of the thrills, love, and laughter that caused audiences to flock to its screen version. Nominated for three Tony Awards and five of London’s Olivier Awards, the show even re-imagines the famed pottery-wheel scene that led to renewed adoration for the Righteous Brothers’ beautiful pop standard “Unchained Melody.”

Directing Circa ’21’s Midwest premiere of GHOST: THE MUSICAL is Jerry Jay Cranford, who, in 2015, helmed the theatre’s smash-hit production of Broadway’s legendary LES MISERABLES. Cranford’s 10-person cast for GHOST: THE MUSICAL is a wonderful blend of professional talents from all across America, six of whom will be making return appearances at the Rock Island dinner theatre.

Included among GHOST: THE MUSICAL’s cast of returning performers are Don Denton (LES MISERABLES), Brandon Godfrey (SISTER ACT), Antoinette Holman (SISTER ACT), Illiana Kirven (ROUTE 66), Samantha A. Matthews (LES MISERABLES), and Paige Salter (MILLION DOLLAR QUARTET). The four actors making their Circa ’21 debut are Lexi Brie, Darrington Clark, Matthew Smolko, and Andrew Keller, the latter of whom plays Sam, a role memorably enacted by Patrick Swayze.

Circa ’21’s entire team is thrilled to present the Midwest Premiere of this exhilarating stage treat, and urges audience members to make reservations for what is certain to be a wintertime theatrical smash. Call the Circa ’21 ticket office at (309) 786-7733 extension 2 for tickets, and witness the spellbinding romance of GHOST:THE MUSICAL!
