Circa Celebrates 40th With No Business Like Show Business!A 40th anniversary may be known as the “Ruby Anniversary,” but in the Circa ’21 Dinner Playhouse’s 40th-anniversary celebration NO BUSINESS LIKE SHOW BUSINESS, the gifts being shared are songs, dances, comedy, and charm, all courtesy of the theatre’s performing wait staff The Bootleggers. Running every Thursday evening in August, this all-new musical revue will showcase highlights and memories from four decades of professional entertainment at the Rock Island theatre, and also showcase its cast’s talents through performances from The King & I, Grease, Cats, Fiddler On The Roof  and many other smash-hit productions.

Circa ’21 will stage NO BUSINESS LIKE SHOW BUSINESS on Thursday evenings –  August 3, 10, 17, 24, and 31, with doors for the 6 p.m. buffet opening at 5:45 p.m., and the shows beginning at 7:15 p.m. Dinner-and-show tickets are $51.98 for all performances, with reduced prices for groups of 12 or more also available.

Reservations are available through the Circa ’21 ticket office. For reservations, contact the theatre at 1828 Third Avenue, Rock Island, IL, 61201. Call (309)786-7733 extension 2.

From its very first production of the musical I Do, I Do in 1977 through its current presentation of Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, Circa ’21 has delivered the very finest in professional stage entertainment for four solid decades. In NO BUSINESS LIKE SHOW BUSINESS, audiences will be treated to just a sampling of the hundreds of musicals the venue has housed over its lifetime – but what a sampling it is!

In addition to songs from Circa 21’s first and most recent productions, NO BUSINESS LIKE SHOW BUSINESS will boast a song-and-dance montage of familiar title tunes, with numbers including 42nd Street, Camelot, Singin’ in the Rain, and Footloose.  A Rodgers & Hammerstein medley will feature unforgettable songs such as The King & I’s “Getting to Know You,” South Pacific’s “Some Enchanted Evening,” and The Sound of Music’s “Favorite Things.” Broadway show-stoppers will be delivered through Fiddler on the Roof’s “If I Were a Rich Man,” Annie’s “Tomorrow,” and Cats’ “Memory.” There will even be a song section titled “Shows We’ve Never Done Before”!

Adding numbers from Mame, Guys & Dolls, Oklahoma!, Hairspray, Little Shop of Horrors, Church Basement Ladies, Big River, Sister Act, and other beloved titles, and NO BUSINESS LIKE SHOW BUSINESS is sure to be the musical event of the season, and also the best anniversary gift any theatre audiences could ask for.

Helming this production are two newcomers to Circa ’21 – Director/Choreographer A. Wright and Musical Director, Perry Mears. The all-new script, meanwhile, is written by 30-year Bootlegging veteran Brad Hauksins, who will also share the stage with fellow members of the performing wait staff – Marc Ciemiewicz, Jennifer Diab, Chris Galvan, Brooke Galván, Sarah Hayes, Morgan Griffin, Nicholas Munson, Antoinette Nebinger, Sara Nicks-Daggett, Cydney Roelandt, Kirsten Sindelar, and Amber Vick – along with special guest performers from the theatre’s past.

Circa ’21’s entire team is thrilled to be celebrating its 40th anniversary in such style, and urges audience members to make reservations for what is certain to be a summertime highlight. Call the Circa ’21 ticket office at (309) 786-7733, Extension 2 for tickets, and treat your family to the music, dance, comedy, and history that is NO BUSINESS LIKE SHOW BUSINESS!
