MACOMB, IL – – Ten Western Illinois University Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) cadets were commissioned virtually as second lieutenants in the U.S. Army during Commencement weekend.

LTC Joan Sommers, military science department chair, spoke to the cadets before the commissioning and swore them in as second lieutenants.

The 10 WIU cadets who took the oath of office of a commissioned officer include:

David Block, of Cary, IL, received his bachelor’s degree in law enforcement and justice administration. He will commission as an active duty signal officer

Kevin Dukes, of Mount Prospect, IL, received his bachelor’s degree in law enforcement and justice administration. He will commission as an active duty chemical officer.

Ten Western Illinois University ROTC Cadets Commissioned as Second LieutenantsNikolaos Georges, of Springfield, IL, received his bachelor’s degree in geography and geographic information science. He will commission as an active duty engineer officer.

Jacob Hockings, of Spring Valley, IL received his bachelor’s degree in law enforcement and justice administration. He will commission as an active duty infantry officer.

Jason Lunstrum, of Downers Grove, IL, received his bachelor’s degree in law enforcement and justice administration. He will commission as an active duty infantry officer.

Samuel Nesbit, of St. Charles, IL, received his bachelor’s degree in law enforcement and justice administration. He will commission as an active duty infantry officer.

Madison Olson, of Oswego, IL, received her bachelor’s degree in law enforcement and justice administration. She will commission as an active duty air defense artillery officer.

Jacob Reynolds, of Minooka, IL, received his bachelor’s degree in law enforcement and justice administration. He will serve in the Colorado National Guard as a field artillery officer.

Aaron Steele, of Herrin IL, received his bachelor’s degree in psychology. He will commission as an active duty signal officer.

Roselyn Wright, of Chicago, IL, received her bachelor’s degree in law enforcement and justice administration. She will serve in the Illinois National Guard as an ordnance officer.
