Jurassic Quest Is Dinosaur-Sized FunThe shaking of the Earth, the thunderous  roars, the fear of sharp teeth and talons, and enormous intimidation.

Yet there was no fear.

This in fact was a wonderful, genius of an idea.

A world of animatronic ,mechanical, robotics known as Jurassic Quest. A traveling prehistoric Jurassic World that took place at the Quad City Expo Center this last weekend.

This “over 40 ” reporter was basically a child again when I stepped into the past the very very distant past, 30 billion years into the past.

I was mesmerized, thrilled and terrified yet I was also in complete awe.

T-Rex, allosaurus, velociraptor, stegosaurus, triceratops, brachiosaurus, brontosaurus, pteranodon and all the rest were on display. A paleontologist would have loved this adventure.  Ross Geller eat your heart out.

Each of the creatures paddocks was realistic and earthy. The displays included a brief description of each creature and when and where they were “discovered.” Most of them surprisingly were in the United States, with many in Asia and Europe as well. The signs also noted whether they were meat or plant eaters and their actual size when they lived.

Of course there were wrought iron gates up at each Dino exhibit… you know in case they would try to escape… a sign on each and every one said: DO NOT touch the dinosaurs and do not enter their habitat!!

Big bummer …but we must follow the rules.

I learned something new: some of our dinosaur friends once had fur – yes, fur. Soft fluffy fur but they were not cuddly kittens, these had attitude.

Jurassic Quest Is Dinosaur-Sized FunThere was also a walking dinosaur show including baby dinos that you could pet. They were cute but oddly felt like rubber and vinyl, then a dinosaur race, with the kids trying to race each other and their dinos.

Kids 3 and older could ride the mechanical dinos (we grown-ups have a similar activity mechanical bull rides.)

The souvenir shop was nice and of course being a grandma I had to make a purchase or two. We would have made more purchases but I wanted to be able to eat the rest of the month.

As I walkede through the interior of the park I walked to the opening to the most incredible eye-popping part of Jurassic Quest…. the BIG BOYS!!

My favorite was T-Rex — those teeth, those eyes… I think he even winked at me. It was the largest creature I had ever seen in my life and of course it’s a meat eater.

The pterodactyl ,the flyer of the group ,was squawking and squawking, his beautiful huge wings by his side.

I didn’t want to leave. It was worth the money to spend four glorious hours in a prehistoric world.

Thank you Jurassic Quest ,and thank you Quad Cities Expo Center for this wonderful experience.
