Snapshots Presents Compelling Family Picture At CircaAs one of the most accomplished stage-musical composers of all time, Stephen Schwartz has charmed audiences worldwide with his songs and scores to Wicked, Pippin, Godspell, Children of Eden, and many other hits. But at the Circa ’21 Dinner Playhouse, the best of all of Schwartz’s theatrical worlds will blend in the area premiere SNAPSHOTS: A MUSICAL SCRAPBOOK, running at the Rock Island theatre through July 15. With its songs taken from more than a dozen different stage, film, and TV works, this musical-comedy-romance is sure to provide a timeless and memorable experience, and is being brought to life by a marvelous cast of professional talents.

SNAPSHOTS will be performed at Circa ’21 on Wednesday, Friday, and Saturdays evenings at 7:45 p.m., Sundays at 5:45 p.m., and Wednesday matinées at 1:30 p.m. Ticket prices are $51.73 for the evening dinner-and-show productions and $44.94 for the plated-lunch matinées.

Reservations are available through the Circa ’21 ticket office. For reservations, contact the theatre at 1828 Third Avenue, Rock Island, IL or by calling (309)786-7733 extension 2. Online reservations may also be made by visiting circa21.com.

Blending some of the best-loved music from composer Schwartz’s varied repertoire alongside some of his lesser-known gems, SNAPSHOTS introduces audiences to Sue and Dan, a couple who, after 20 years of marriage, have drifted apart. Yet together, they discover a box of photographs that leads them to relive the memories of their past selves captured in the snapshots, allowing the audience to not only view Sue and Dan in their mid-40s, but in their teens and 20s, as well.

Featuring the fresh lyrics and orchestrations that Schwartz is famous for, SNAPSHOTS’ songlist boasts widely adored tunes from shows that audiences likely know best, among them the Tony-winning smash Wicked and the cherished biblical musical Children of Eden. But as Sue and Dan revisit their old photos, audiences will also hear funny and beautiful selections from entertainments as diverse as Working, The Magic Show, The Baker’s Wife, and even the Disney comedy Enchanted, resulting in a tune-filled and humorous look at the many ways in which love unites and divides us.

SNAPSHOTS’ director is Warner Crocker, whose previous productions for Circa ’21 have included the comedies Always a Bridesmaid, Things My Mother Taught Me, and Boeing-Boeing, with frequent venue accompanist Ron May serving as the show’s music director. The cast, meanwhile, is composed of six stellar performers, half of whom are familiar area talents, and half of whom – just like the musical itself – will be making their Circa ’21 debuts.

Three actresses portray Sue in different stages of her life, and all three are Circa ’21 veterans: Autumn Loose Peter Pan, Anna Segatti The Music Man, and Erin Churchill Irving Berlin’s White Christmas, Cats, Grease. They’re joined by three newcomers to the Rock Island stage, all of them cast as different versions of Dan: Grant Benedict Hairspray, Luther Chakurian Man of La Mancha, and Bobby Cook Gallagher West Side Story.

Circa ’21’s entire team is thrilled to present the area debut of this delightful, musical-comedy collection of Stephen Schwartz tunes. Call the Circa ’21 ticket office at (309)786-7733 extension 2 for tickets, and join in the picture-perfect stage enchantment of SNAPSHOTS: A MUSICAL SCRAPBOOK!
