In the United States in 2017, an estimated 10,270 new cases of cancer will be diagnosed among children from birth to 14 years. About 1,190 children are expected to die from the disease.

These statistics are heart breaking, but there is a way you can help.

In memory of Gabriel Perkins, who passed away from pediatric cancer in 2010, you are invited to become a sponsor or contributor to the Gabe’s Gift Memorial 5K and 1-Mile Fun Run. Money raised will be used to help Quad Cities families that are dealing with the devastating diagnosis of pediatric cancer and families that have lost a child to cancer. All proceeds from this event will go to Tudi’s Tribe, a local charitable organization that supports families of children with cancer.

This year’s Gabe’s Gift Memorial 5K and 1-Mile Fun Run will be held on Saturday Sep 9 at 7:30 a.m. at Jane Addams Elementary School (3520 53rd Street Moline). Registration for both races can be completed online at Donations for this cause can also be made through the link.

Packet pick-up and late registrations will be happening at Homewood Church (3303 60th Street Moline) on Friday Sep 8 from 5-8 p.m. There will be no registration available on the day of the race.

This opportunity to help send families to bereavement camp after the loss of a child to cancer is not one to pass up. Don’t miss this fun course for a good cause!
